Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson revealed his feelings after being substituted out during the fourth quarter for the second occasion in under a week.

"I feel great physically. Mentally, probably a little different story,"
Thompson disclosed to journalists following the 109-98 win against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday, as reported by Anthony Slater of The Athletic.

In the game, Thompson scored eight points through 4-of-9 shooting across 29 minutes. The experienced player was replaced with seven minutes remaining in the fourth quarter by the emerging Moses Moody.

"Go from, you know, one of the best players - it's hard for anybody, I'll be honest with you,"
Thompson remarked on the adjustment in his role.

The 33-year-old has come to terms with his evolving role within the squad.
"I'm not going to be mad. I'm happy for these young guys, honestly,"
he stated.

Even in the absence of forward Andrew Wiggins due to a foot injury, Warriors coach Steve Kerr chose to give rookies Brandin Podziemski and Gui Santos significant playtime towards the end of the game. Thompson also found himself on the bench towards the end of Golden State's Friday victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.

The season has been challenging for Golden State, which currently stands outside the playoff bracket with a 22-25 record.

Thompson and the Warriors are set to face the 76ers in Philadelphia on Wednesday night.
