Stephen Curry has been honored with the NBA's Clutch Player of the Year award for the 2023-24 season, as announced by the league on Thursday night. This prestigious award, named after the legendary Jerry West, is in its second year, with Sacramento Kings' De'Aaron Fox being the inaugural recipient last season. Now, Curry joins the elite ranks as the second winner.

The Golden State Warriors' superstar emerged victorious among three finalists, including DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder. Curry's dominance in clutch moments, defined as the last five minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime with a score differential of five points or less, was unmatched. He led the league in clutch scoring with 189 points, seven more than DeRozan.

The voting was tight, with Curry securing 45 first-place votes and totaling 298 points. DeRozan trailed closely with 34 first-place votes and 272 points, while Gilgeous-Alexander amassed 160 points. Curry's clutch performances throughout the season, highlighted by his game-winning shot against the Phoenix Suns, solidified his claim to the award.

The NBA's awards season is in full swing, with Curry being the latest recipient alongside Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers (Most Improved) and Naz Reid of the Minnesota Timberwolves (Sixth Man). The league is gearing up to unveil more prestigious awards, including Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and Most Valuable Player, among others, in the coming days. Additionally, fans eagerly await the announcement of the All-NBA, All-Rookie, and All-Defensive teams.
