The Lakers have started this season slower than expected, and with a plethora of ongoing injuries within the roster, they are apparently eyeing up one trade to bring a former Laker back to Los Angeles.

Trade For Caruso

The Bulls are on the brink of blowing up their roster. After several disappointing seasons with the current core, it is only a matter of time before they trade away their key players and focus on their future.

Among the rumored stars to be traded are Zach Lavine, Demar Derozan, and Nikola Vucevic. But one player that may be going under the radar is Alex Caruso, who joined the Bulls in 2021. With championship experience and two years left on his contract, there are likely to be many contending teams willing to make a move for Caruso. So far, the Lakers are rumored to be the first on the scene.

Former Laker

Caruso went undrafted in 2016 and spent time in the G-League before the Lakers eventually picked him up on a two-way contract. From there, Caruso earned his way into the main rotation and was a key contributor for the Lakers as they won the championship in 2020. His contribution was so significant that it earned him a $37 million contract offer from Chicago, where he plays to this day.

With the Lakers struggling badly when LeBron is off the court, bringing in Caruso as a spark plug off the bench may be just what they need. He proved capable of this role in his time before and in his seasons since. He has averaged more minutes per game, giving him much more experience to bring to the role this time around.

There are no reports of an official offer being sent as of now, but bringing in a player like Caruso to reunite with Davis and LeBron seems like a no-brainer, especially given their lack of depth at the guard positions compared to the rest of the squad.
