Jackson delivered 35 points (11-19 FG, 7-14 3Pt, 6-7 FT), along with five rebounds and three assists, in 35 minutes of play during Wednesday's 137-116 loss to Golden State. Chris Paul, expressed pride reminiscent of a family member when discussing GG Jackson after Wednesday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Paul's connection with Jackson, a 19-year-old rookie for the Grizzlies, goes back a few years to when Jackson competed for Team CP3 on the AAU circuit.

Due to a wrist injury, Paul missed the first two matchups against the Grizzlies this season. However, he expressed satisfaction in witnessing the success of a player he once mentored.

"Honestly, the most fulfilling thing about tonight was GG Jackson," Paul said. "... GG is an unbelievable kid. It's crazy. Sometimes he still calls me Coach. He hit a 3 in my face, and I was pissed. Our AAU program is really like a family. To see him, to be out there on the court playing against him, it's kind of a surreal moment."

Continuing to capitalize on the Grizzlies' numerous injuries and absences, the 2023 second-round selection achieved a new career-high in scoring on Wednesday, marking the second time he's scored 30-plus points in the last six games. Across his initial six NBA starts, Jackson has averaged 25.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 three-pointers, 1.8 assists, and 0.8 steals per game in 37.5 minutes of play. Despite potential returns of players like Vince Williams (knee), the 19-year-old forward is poised to maintain a significant role in the rotation. Jackson has tallied at least 19 points in his last six games and holds a season average of 13.4 points over 36 games.

Paul, now in his 19th NBA season, debuted in November 2005 when Jackson was merely 11 months old.

While numerous NBA players from the Carolinas have emerged from Paul's CP3 program, Jackson's performance against Paul stands out among them.
