Glen Taylor, the owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves, shared with NBA reporter Darren Wolfson that Karl-Anthony Towns' recovery from knee surgery is progressing ahead of schedule. Towns underwent surgery for his left knee lateral meniscus on March 12.

Known for his impressive stats, Towns boasts averages of 22.1 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.7 steals, and 0.7 blocks this season. He's been shooting at an impressive 50.6% from the field, 42.3% from beyond the arc, and 87.4% from the free-throw line. With 22 double-doubles this season, Towns has been a key player for the Timberwolves, who are showing strong contention for the title for the first time since 2004.

Having signed a lucrative four-year, $221 million extension with the Timberwolves in July 2022, Towns is set to earn $49.4 million next season. He was drafted first overall by the Timberwolves in the 2015 NBA Draft and has maintained impressive career averages of 22.9 points, 10.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks.

Despite Towns' stellar performances, the Timberwolves have yet to advance past the first round of the playoffs during his tenure. As they enter the 2024 playoffs with a promising record of 50-22 and holding the second spot in the Western Conference standings, there's anticipation to see how far they'll go.

Additionally, Taylor announced on Thursday that the window for Marc Lore and Alex Rodriguez to assume control of the franchises has closed. As a result, Taylor intends to retain his majority ownership of both the Timberwolves and the Minnesota Lynx. The purchase agreement stipulated a 90-day window for the closing, which expired on March 27, 2024, without the necessary circumstances for an extension occurring.

''I will continue to work with Marc, Alex and the rest of the ownership group to ensure our teams have the necessary resources to compete at the highest levels on and off the court. The Timberwolves and Lynx are no longer for sale.''
