BREAKING: Important injury update Grizzlies' Ja Morant

The Memphis Grizzlies have listed their star players Ja Morant and Luke Kennard as doubtful to play against the New Orleans Pelicans due to hip and ankle soreness, respectively. The team is more likely to rest the duo to prioritize their health as they approach the playoffs, according to ESPN's Tim McMahon.

The Grizzlies, who have a firm grip on the Western Conference's No. 2 seed, have just three regular season games remaining. With health as the priority, it makes sense to rest the players with the playoffs fast approaching.

Morant played 35 minutes in the Grizzlies' victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, where he recorded 23 points, six rebounds, and nine assists. Meanwhile, Kennard posted 20 points, five rebounds, and two assists in 34 minutes of game time.

Considering the Pelicans game is the second of a back-to-back, and the Grizzlies need to prioritize their players' health, it's not surprising that Morant and Kennard are likely to be rested.

Although the Sacramento Kings hold the tiebreaker over the Grizzlies, the chances of them overtaking the second seed are unlikely, barring any unforeseen circumstances. If the Grizzlies lose to the Pelicans, it would make for an interesting end to the regular season, but with a record of 50-29 and having won eight of their last 10 games, the Grizzlies are looking strong heading into the playoffs.
