Announced by the team, Anthony Davis departed the game against the Warriors in the first quarter due to a left eye contusion. The injury occurred when he was fouled by Warriors center Trayce Jackson-Davis while attempting a layup. Despite attempting to continue playing, Davis was ultimately sidelined for the remainder of the game due to impaired vision resulting from the contact. The Lakers suffered a loss in his absence. Davis is set to undergo reevaluation over the weekend to determine his availability for Monday's game against the Atlanta Hawks.

Lebron James had this to say after the game :

"When you've been preparing for a couple of days with our prep and you lose a key component to your team in one quarter, we tried to pick it up, but, obviously, there's some things we can't do without AD,"

In the 12 minutes Anthony Davis was on the court, the Lakers outscored the Warriors by six points. Davis, the Lakers' All-Star center, contributed 8 points on 3-of-6 shooting, along with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block.

Despite his early exit, Davis has shown durability throughout the season, having played in 65 of the Lakers' 69 games. This includes their recent win over the Indiana Pacers for the in-season championship.

Jaxson Hayes stepped in for Davis and had a solid performance, tallying seven points and a season-high 12 rebounds in 28 minutes of play. However, the Lakers fell short as the Warriors secured a 128-121 victory, moving slightly ahead of the Lakers in the Western Conference standings with a .530 winning percentage compared to the Lakers' .529.
