For the initial 11 years of his career, Marc Gasol played for Memphis before joining the Raptors in 2019, where he went on to secure an NBA Championship later in the season.

The Barcelona-born center has opted for retirement.

Marc Gasol, a former NBA champion with the Toronto Raptors and revered Spanish basketball icon, has officially retired from the sport at 39 years old.

According to NBA Insider Shams Charania, the Memphis Grizzlies, who acquired Gasol after the Los Angeles Lakers drafted him 48th overall in 2007, intend to retire his No. 33 jersey.

Concluding his career with the Lakers, he played 891 games across 14 seasons for three franchises, earning accolades like three All-Star nods, two All-NBA selections, and a Defensive Player of the Year award in 2013. Known for strong defense and scoring, he averaged 14 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 3.4 assists, leaving a lasting impact in the NBA and internationally with the Spanish national team, contributing to numerous medals and championships.
