On Monday night, Jamal Murray and the Denver Nuggets sealed the fate of the Los Angeles Lakers with a clutch go-ahead jumper in the final seconds, securing a 108-106 victory. However, the focus post-game shifted to Lakers coach Darvin Ham's decision-making, particularly his choice to advance the ball with 3.6 seconds remaining instead of utilizing a half-court inbound pass. This move left the Lakers scrambling for a shot opportunity, culminating in a desperation heave from near half-court as time expired.

The pivotal factor behind this decision was Ham's earlier challenge of a call late in the game. Despite the challenge being successful, NBA rules dictated that the Lakers forfeit a timeout, as it was their second challenge of the night. This left them with no timeouts for crucial end-of-game situations.

The controversial rule sparked discussion among the Inside the NBA crew, with Charles Barkley expressing his disapproval of its impact on crucial moments like this.

"If you win a challenge and you lose a timeout, that doesn't seem fair to me," Barkley said. I don't understand why they win the challenge but lose the timeout. I want clarification."

Kenny Smith echoed Barkley's sentiment, highlighting the unfairness of penalizing a team for referees' missed calls. According to NBA rules, a successful challenge doesn't result in a timeout refund.

Meanwhile, Jamal Murray sealed the game with his second game-winning shot of the series, netting 32 points, three rebounds, and seven assists, with five 3-pointers. Jokic notched another double-double with 25 points and 20 rebounds.

On the Lakers' side, LeBron James led with 30 points, nine rebounds, and 11 assists, shooting 11-of-21. Anthony Davis contributed 17 points, 15 rebounds, and four assists.

The Lakers' elimination raises questions about their offseason, with potential changes looming for the roster and coaching staff. Whether the NBA will reconsider the rule remains to be seen.
