The NBA has released its latest salary cap projections for the 2024-2025 season, staying consistent with January's figure of $141 million. The luxury tax is anticipated to be $172 million, with the first apron set at $179 million and the second apron at $190 million. According to Bobby Marks, seven teams are projected to have cap space, while 10 teams are expected to be above either the first or second apron.

For two consecutive years, the NBA has experienced the maximum 10% cap increases, but projections indicate that this trend may not continue into the next season.

A $1 million variance in the cap is unlikely to significantly alter the immediate plans of most teams. Even teams aiming for maximum cap space receive some respite knowing that max contracts are determined by a percentage of the cap, thus a lower cap corresponds to a lower maximum salary. However, there was a time when it appeared feasible for the cap to increase by 10% annually for the foreseeable future. If this scenario does not materialize, teams might exercise more caution in committing to long-term contracts. While a reduced cap may not have a substantial impact on a single season, it could foster a more cautious environment, influencing the salaries of certain players.

All these figures are tentative until the July moratorium. Since we're working with projections, the actual outcome could sway things in either direction.
