On Wednesday, the NBA imposed a ban on Toronto's two-way player, Jontay Porter, following an investigation revealing he disclosed confidential details to sports bettors and placed bets on games.

The NBA's investigation found Porter guilty on multiple counts:

- Before the March 20 game, he revealed confidential health data to an NBA bettor, who then staked an $80,000 bet on Porter's underperformance.
- Porter manipulated his playing time to sway betting outcomes.
- From January to March 2024, Porter placed 13 NBA bets worth $54,094, winning $76,059 and netting $21,965. Three bets were multi-game parlays involving Raptors games, all resulting in losses.

During the game, Porter exited early citing illness, failing to meet the statistics outlined in the parlay. Consequently, the bet was not honored, and an inquiry was launched by the NBA.

In response, NBA Commissioner Adam Silver emphasized the paramount importance of upholding the integrity of NBA competitions and denounced Porter's actions, labeling them as severe violations of gaming rules.

Porter, brother of Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr., faces the consequences of his actions with the league's stringent penalties.

Jontay spent a year playing college basketball at Missouri before joining the NBA as an undrafted free agent.

He gained experience in the G League over the past few years and also played 11 games for the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2020-21 season, and 26 games for the Raptors in the current season.

Throughout his NBA career, Porter has averaged 3.7 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists across 37 regular-season games.
