The Houston Rockets are surprisingly aiming to be buyers, not sellers, in this year's NBA trade deadline. Head coach Ime Udoka's desire to fast-track the promising program has shifted the team into Phase 2 of its plan, exploring potential moves to acquire immediate-impact talent with their abundance of young assets and draft capital.

According to sources from The Athletic, the Houston Rockets have shown significant interest in acquiring Mikal Bridges through trade. Over the past few weeks, the Rockets have presented a proposal involving multiple first-round picks to the Brooklyn Nets in their pursuit of Bridges.

Despite the offer, the Nets have firmly declined any possibility of trading Bridges, considering him a crucial part of their future core.

The initiative to enhance the Rockets' roster for a playoff push this season is being led by Ime Udoka.

The Rockets, currently 3-7 in their last 10 games and positioned at 11th in the Western Conference, feel compelled to make a trade before the deadline. Despite a promising start to the season, they possess key assets to potentially reposition themselves for a playoff spot.
