Before their recent defeat against the Boston Celtics, the Chicago Bulls re-signed a familiar figure to their roster. They secured the services of veteran Javonte Green on a 10-day deal, ensuring his presence for at least a handful of games before the season concludes.

Green previously spent two and a half seasons with the Bulls following a trade from the Boston Celtics in 2021. Despite being undersized, Green established himself as a dependable rotational player under Billy Donovan, primarily in the forward position. Following a season-ending knee injury last year, Green is now back with the Bulls, eager to make an impact once again.

For Green, his previous tenure with the Bulls feels like a distant memory.

''To be back here is a surreal feeling, even though it hasn't felt like a long time ago, Green said. ''Obviously the Bulls know what I bring to the table [...] I'll just go out there and be myself.''

Green was sidelined during the Bulls' match up against the Celtics, but he remains prepared to contribute whenever his team calls upon him. Aged 30 and standing at 6-foot-4, Green is embarking on his latest stint with the Bulls, having previously been associated with the organization intermittently from 2020 to 2023. This season, he has been showcasing his talents for the Santa Cruz Warriors, the Golden State Warriors' G League affiliate.

During the previous season, Green participated in 32 games for Chicago, boasting averages of 5.2 points and 2.8 rebounds per game, with shooting percentages of 56% from the field and 32% from beyond the arc.

Following a brief stint with the Warriors in October, Green was released shortly after signing a training camp contract. However, he has been making significant contributions for the Santa Cruz Warriors, averaging 12.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals over 10 games.

Throughout his career, Green has amassed a total of 186 NBA appearances split between the Bulls and the Boston Celtics.

As of Friday, Chicago holds the ninth position in the Eastern Conference standings with a record of 34-36, positioning them for another potential participation in the play-in tournament.
