Approaching the NBA trade deadline in two weeks, the Detroit Pistons, currently the league's lowest-performing team, are actively engaged in discussions, hinting at potential significant changes in the upcoming summer.

Despite Tom Gores anticipating changes sooner, a trade post his comments hasn't markedly altered the franchise's course. The prevailing outlook suggests Detroit may weather this challenging season and enact major changes in the summer, armed with a potential $60 million cap space.

As the NBA trade deadline approaches, the Detroit Pistons are playing it safe, banking on their blue-chip players. However, in the unpredictable world of trades, no one is entirely secure until the deadline passes. The Pistons' strategic stance keeps fans and analysts guessing, with the potential for a superstar acquisition lingering in the air.

The Pistons may make another trade before the February 8 deadline, but the scale is uncertain. According to league sources, Detroit is steadfast in keeping prospects like Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson, Jaden Ivey, and Jalen Duren, showing no immediate interest in trades.

Detroit didn't pursue talks with the Atlanta Hawks for Dejounte Murray. Discussions with the Chicago Bulls about Zach LaVine included proposals with a promising Detroit prospect. While the Pistons haven't shown interest in trading core players, internal discussions persist about a potential LaVine acquisition later on.
