On Monday, the NBA imposed a $15,000 fine on Los Angeles Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell for kicking the game ball into the stands following Saturday's 145-144 win against the Golden State Warriors.

Playing a pivotal role in the double-overtime triumph, 27-year-old Russell continued his recent stellar form by contributing 28 points, five assists, and two steals, securing a notable plus-12 net rating in a marathon 48-minute game.

Over the last eight matchups, Russell has maintained an impressive average of 27.5 points and 6.4 assists, showcasing his sharpshooting skills with 39 successful three-pointers out of 72 attempts during this noteworthy stretch.

Even amid his outstanding run, Russell finds himself at the center of ongoing trade discussions.

As reported by The Athletic's Jovan Buha, who previously revealed the Lakers' attempt to trade Russell for Dejounte Murray with the Atlanta Hawks, the likelihood of the All-Star being traded before the NBA's February 8 trade deadline remains substantial.
