Report : The Los Angeles Lakers fire head coach Darvin Ham

Well, folks, it's official: the Lakers have cut ties with coach Darvin Ham after a repeat playoff defeat to the Denver Nuggets. Just days after a heartbreaker in Game 5, courtesy of Jamal Murray's clutch performance, the Lakers decided to shake things up.

This season, the Lakers scraped together a 47-35 record, landing them eighth in the West. They managed to push past the play-in tournament but found themselves up against the Nuggets once more, falling in a nail-biting five-game series. When pressed about his tenure after the tough loss, Ham couldn't hide his disappointment, admitting the wounds were still fresh.

Now, after two seasons and a modest 90-74 record, the Lakers are on the hunt for a new leader. Darvin's stint marked his debut as an NBA head coach, but a dismal 1-8 playoff record against the Nuggets certainly didn't help his case.

Looking ahead, whoever steps in will be LeBron's fourth coach since he joined the Lakers—assuming King James sticks around next season. Frank Vogel held the reins the longest during LeBron's LA saga, but even he couldn't dodge the axe after three seasons. The Lakers are clearly craving stability and a fresh strategy, hoping the next coach can finally get them over the hump.
