Phoenix Suns secure Grayson Allen with 4-year, $70M extension, securing a vital piece of their lineup. Allen, a key rotation player, was integral to the Suns' three-guard starting lineup.

Allen's contract extension binds him to Phoenix until 2026-27, with a player option for 2027-28. The 28-year-old joined the Suns in a major off-season trade, which saw Damian Lillard move to Milwaukee and Deandre Ayton to Portland.

Allen, 28, showcased his sharpshooting prowess in Phoenix this season, leading the NBA with an impressive 46.1% three-point shooting on 5.9 attempts per game. He also contributed solid averages of 13.5 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.0 assists, with shooting efficiencies of 49.9% from the field and 87.8% from the free-throw line, narrowly missing the coveted 50/40/90 shooting season.

Finding stability with the Suns after bouncing around during his six-year career, Allen made significant strides. He appeared in 75 out of 82 games, starting in 74, setting career highs in both categories. Averaging 33.5 minutes per game, another career high, he demonstrated his versatility, posting career-best averages of 13.4 points, 3.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds.

This season marked the first time Allen had control over his destination in the NBA. Drafted by the Utah Jazz in 2018, he was later traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in 2019, then to the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021. Following another trade to the Suns before the 2023 season, he found his rhythm on the court.

The Suns secured the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 49-33 record, narrowly avoiding the play-in tournament by holding the tiebreaker over the New Orleans Pelicans. They will commence their 2024 playoffs against the third-seeded Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday.
