Following their disappointing first-round exit to the injured Denver Nuggets, the Portland Trail Blazers were quick to move on from head coach Terry Stotts. General manager Neil Olshey and owner Jody Allen decided to take a chance on Chauncey Billups, now formerly of the Los Angeles Clippers

Many expected the Blazers to be expedient with their assistant coaching hires, especially after seeing the rate that the Boston Celtics assembled their new coaching staff. Instead, the Blazers have remained quiet for almost 2 weeks.

Today, it was announced that the Blazers have narrowed their head assistant candidate list to three names: Vinny Del Negro, Scott Brooks, and Lionel Hollins.

These names come as no surprise, as it appears that the Blazers will follow the common blueprint of surrounding a rookie head coach with a more experienced coaching staff, similar to what the Brooklyn Nets did this season with Steve Nash.
