Detroit Pistons center Isaiah Stewart was taken into custody for assault on Wednesday after allegedly punching Phoenix Suns center Drew Eubanks at the arena, just hours before their scheduled game.

According to Phoenix police, Stewart was issued a citation and subsequently released. Stewart had already been ruled out of the game due to a sprained left ankle. Meanwhile, Eubanks managed to contribute six points and eight rebounds in 18 minutes during the Suns' 116-100 win.

Speaking before the game, Eubanks recounted that the altercation occurred as he was entering the arena. He mentioned that a dispute arose, leading to a confrontation where both players were face to face before Stewart threw the punch. Security intervened promptly. Eubanks asserted that he was fit to play despite suffering a minor injury, a claim contradicted by police reports.

In 2021, Stewart and LeBron James were both involved in an on-court dispute, leading to Stewart's suspension for two games and James' for one.

Expect further action from the league regarding the incident.
