Blockbuster Trade Proposal for Dejounte Murray

After beating the favored Philadelphia 76ers and making a shocking run to the Eastern Conference Finals in the 2021 playoffs, the Hawks have been disappointing since. This is not due to a lack of effort; in the following season, they traded for first-time All-Star Dejounte Murray to pair with franchise cornerstone Trae Young. However, after back-to-back defeats in the first round of the playoffs for the past two years, the Hawks may now be considering trading away Murray, as the pairing with Young has been unsuccessful.

One trade proposal involves sending Murray to Brooklyn to join Mikal Bridges in a new-look Nets rebuild after their failed superteam was dismantled last year.

The Hawks will also benefit from this trade as they will receive one of the best young 3-and-D players in the league in Cam Johnson, along with two future draft picks that could yield various potential talents. Additionally, they will improve with the loss of Murray. The saying "addition by subtraction" rings true here, as without Murray on the court as another ball-dominant guard, Young will have even more usage opportunities and will hopefully thrive to the point where he can lead the Hawks to another Conference Finals appearance like the one in 2021.
