Former NBA star Rondae Hollis-Jefferson has gone viral thanks to his showstopping performances at the FIBA World Cup. The former first-round pick had stints with Brooklyn, Toronto, and Portland before leaving the NBA in 2021. Currently playing as a forward for the Jordan national team, Rondae is gradually reclaiming the limelight as his performances draw comparisons to Kobe Bryant.

The former Arizona Wildcat has maintained an average of over 30 points per game thus far in the tournament and additionally boasts the highest-scoring game with 39 points. In an interview with "h/t BasketNews," Rondae was queried about the recent comparisons to Kobe, to which he responded as follows:

«It's an honor. There was only one Kobe, but to feel that love & that energy coming down the stretch, hitting those big shots, God was with me & Kobe was with me, for sure,»

In addition to his impressive scoring performances, another factor contributing to their comparison is that both are left-handed players who don the number 24 jersey. Rondae has also discussed incorporating specific elements from Kobe's skill set into his own game. He further shared the advice that Bryant imparted to him in 2016:

«He told me one day, 2016 I believe, I was able to give him the farewell gift, and I was just like: ‘Hey, do you have any advice for me?' He told me to fall in love with the elbow [jumper], and ever since then, I've been working on my midrange and get better.»
