NBA Legend Slams Lebron's Legacy

LeBron James is one of the greatest basketball players of all time and has a plethora of records and feats, such as becoming the all-time leading scorer, to back up those claims. One such record was winning the NBA Finals MVP for three different organizations. He won two consecutively with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013, another one for the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016, and his most recent came with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020.

Many people may think of this as a massive achievement, being acknowledged as the best player on a championship roster for three separate teams. They may highlight it as a point of emphasis in LeBron's legacy, especially in the GOAT debate against Jordan. However, one NBA legend has claimed the opposite and hailed the switching of teams as ruining his legacy.

NBA legend and New York Knick standout John Starks recently spoke to Brandon «Scoop B» Robinson of Bally Sports and said that it hurts his legacy.

«LeBron is hurting his legacy by switching NBA teams so much that it will affect his standing when it comes to LeBron vs. Jordan debates,»

«Mike didn't move around. He wanted to play against the best. He felt like he didn't need to go chase players to join his team to beat the best because he felt like he was the best, and I think that's the difference.»

While other stars such as Shaquille O'Neal and Dominique Wilkins aren't discredited for joining multiple teams when they have switched organizations twice as many times as LeBron, it is true that the standards are held higher between Jordan and LeBron, who are almost universally recognized as the two best players of all time.

LeBron becomes a free agent once more at the end of the 2023-24 season, and while he could re-sign with the Lakers, it is possible that he may join a fourth team depending on where his son Bronny is drafted. If so, this will only enhance John Starks' comments.
