Despite the Denver Nuggets sweeping the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference finals en route to the championship in 2023, and the Lakers defeating the Nuggets in the conference finals on their way to the title in 2020, LeBron James emphasizes that past outcomes hold no influence over the upcoming playoff series.

"I think you're putting a little bit too much emphasis on it," James said after practice Thursday when asked about the rematch factor for the two teams. "This is our first-round matchup. I mean, we're looking forward to the postseason. But I haven't been, like, looking forward to the rematch. The game is played how it's being played, and this is the matchup. So we're looking forward to that challenge."

The Nuggets have been consistently victorious over the Lakers in recent encounters, notably in last year's Western Conference Finals series. Although Denver tends to outperform the Lakers, their contests are typically closely contested, with the Nuggets displaying superior execution in crucial moments to secure wins.

The Lakers face a challenging task ahead but can take solace in their successful performance in the first play-in game, avoiding the need to compete in a second play-in game for survival. Anticipation is high for what promises to be an exciting Western Conference showdown.
