Timberwolves coach Chris Finch made his way to Denver on Friday, crutches in tow, to join his team as it gears up for Saturday's clash against the Nuggets. Despite undergoing surgery on Wednesday to repair a torn patellar tendon in his right leg, Finch is determined to be present for Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals.

While the team landed in Denver on Thursday night, Finch flew out separately the following day. At practice, he was spotted on crutches, observing from the sidelines without engaging with the media. The Wolves are still hashing out the specifics of how Finch might contribute during the game, whether from the sidelines or in a more advisory role.

"Finch is obviously a leader and a super tough guy," Timberwolves president of basketball operations Tim Connelly said on Thursday afternoon. "I have a ton of respect for him bouncing back so quickly. He's chomping at the bit to get back out there. He's really excited about the series and it's great to have him back."

Assistant coach Micah Nori mentioned, "He will be as close to the action as possible, and we're trying to figure it all out." The team even spent time post-practice discussing potential spots where Finch could station himself near the scorer's table during the game.

Finch's dedication to the team is poignant, especially considering he was injured last Sunday in a sideline collision with guard Mike Conley during the Wolves' sweep-clinching game against the Suns. With a 56-26 season record and the third seed under his belt, Finch has been instrumental in leading the Wolves to one of their most successful seasons yet. His presence, even while injured, speaks volumes about his commitment to the team's postseason journey.
