The Warriors may be forced to undergo major roster changes if their season takes a downturn. Their management's stance against tanking and emphasis on competitiveness could guide their decisions.

With Klay Thompson's contract situation unresolved earlier in the season, he could become a free agent this summer. Despite his struggles, teams like the Orlando Magic, reportedly interested according to Marc Stein, could pursue him with available cap space.

"Orlando has been increasingly mentioned as a potential suitor for Klay Thompson in free agency. The Magic's available cap space is difficult to project this far out. That figure could rise as high as $45 million but depends on their future plans with free agents-to-be Markelle Fultz and Gary Harris as well as Jonathan Isaac (whose $17.4 million salary next season is non-guaranteed)."

The Magic are currently ranked last in the NBA for three-point shooting this season, with the lowest number of makes overall. Their lack of point guard prowess and absence of reliable floor-spacing players have contributed to their initial success tapering off. While they are on track for a Play-In appearance this season, their chances of becoming a playoff threat hinge on acquiring experienced sharpshooters. Klay Thompson would be an ideal fit for this role.

Securing Klay would likely result in the Magic entrusting Jalen Suggs as their point guard and forming a dynamic backcourt pairing. Wagner and Banchero are poised to be key frontcourt contributors for the foreseeable future, with the team also aiming to retain Wendell Carter Jr. and shield him from trade discussions in the winter.
